Blue Me (cyanotype, 9 meters)

Blue Me (cyanotype, 9 meters)

This is about a performance, an installation, a photography.
An old process photography developed with the sun and called cyanotype.
9 meters of cyanotype with a selfportrait and the garden.
In one unique piece of paper without any come back to the work.
Immediacity is the rule.
I have made the first part of the video, during this cold winter 2021. And the last part of the video is the real selfportrait “making of”, during summer 2018. It was a real challenge to make everything, video and cyanotype. Specially because the paper was already with nearly 8 meters of photographies of plants and flowers and selfportrait was at the end of the process. Also, I have to mention that the paper is prepared in the nearly black room, and the action of photography begin very quickly when it’s under the sun. So I must be fast, and also, no move when I lay on the paper. If you pay attention to the end of the video, you see the paper becoming from white to light blue and then to deeper blue. After all, I must wash the cyanotype in the bathroom and take care of the first part with flowers. “Blue Me” was exhibited in an old big chapel in Gent, Belgium, for an exhibition called “Wallys” with the visual artist Walter Vleugels.
