SEEK: Our Stories

Trailer video for VIS 2449 Immersive Landscape, GSD Harvard.
Produced: May 2021
Context:
In the near future, increasingly, storms and blizzards are driving coastal city dwellers further inland. On August 23, 2100, during a major storm, some residents of high-rise buildings in the Coastal City, noticed through their windows that as the water turned into waves blown by the storms, the East River was flooded with a bunch of weird and subtle luminescence. Those should not have been visible in the rain, but with the city’s outdoor infrastructure crippled, a little light could be particularly obvious. Some people took pictures of the fluorescence, and some curious people came up to investigate. This was the day when the aliens and their UFOs were first exposed to the people of Earth. Earthlings called them “aquatic humans”, and through equipment observation, it was found that they could only move in salty water, absorbing water and swelling to a human-like form. They moved so stealthily and quickly that normal people did not dare to confront them. Thus, the migration of people from the Coastal City inland increased tenfold.

Characters: Alan & Alicia
This is a pair of 25-year-old twin siblings living in the Coastal City. They both have been suffering from narcolepsy since they were about 12 years old, often experiencing very unexplained sleepiness. Their sleeping could randomly range from 2-3 days to as long as 1-2 weeks. So they take care of each other, keeping each other safe and keeping everything
running properly in the house while the other sleeps. But one day, when Alan woke up, everyone disappeared, so did Alicia.
